Getting to know Amy - Anxiety Therapy Specialist

Hello, I’m Amy
I’m a Therapeutic Counsellor, a married mum of two and someone who genuinely understands how overwhelming anxiety can feel.
Outside of counselling, I love coffee, good food (whether that’s cooking it or eating it), travelling, music, reading and the occasional Netflix binge.
But the most important thing I want you to know is this: I’ve also experienced severe anxiety myself, and that experience is a huge part of why I do the work I do today.
My own struggles with anxiety began many years ago after unexpected health news within my family. Almost overnight, everything felt different. I went from feeling happy, confident and grounded to constantly living in fear, overthinking and emotional overwhelm. I barely recognised myself at the time, and it was exhausting trying to hold everything together whilst internally struggling so much.
Over time, therapy became a huge part of my healing. I began to understand that anxiety wasn’t something I needed to constantly fight against or “fix”. Instead, I learned how to understand it with more compassion, listen to what it was trying to communicate and respond to myself with far more kindness.
That experience shaped not only who I am personally, but also how I work with clients today.
I’m passionate about supporting women who feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in cycles of overthinking and exhausted from carrying so much mentally and emotionally. Women who are so used to pushing themselves through that they rarely stop to consider what they need themselves.
My approach is warm, supportive and collaborative. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can breathe out, feel understood and begin to make sense of what has been going on beneath the surface.
Together, we can work towards helping you feel calmer, more grounded and more connected to yourself again.
If that sounds like the kind of support you’re looking for, I’d love to hear from you.
Please feel free to get in touch with any questions or take a look at my FAQ page for more information about working with me.
Who I help
I support women who feel stuck in exhausting cycles of anxiety, overthinking and emotional overwhelm.
Many of the women I work with appear to be coping on the outside whilst internally feeling anxious, mentally drained and unable to properly switch off. They often find themselves stuck in “what if” thinking, constantly overanalysing, carrying the mental load for everyone around them and pushing themselves through each day despite feeling overwhelmed underneath it all.
Anxiety can quietly impact every part of life including relationships, work, confidence, sleep and the ability to simply feel calm and present.
I offer warm, supportive counselling for women who are tired of constantly firefighting their way through life and want to better understand their anxiety, feel more grounded within themselves and experience life with less fear and pressure.
I support clients online across the UK and in person from my private garden therapy room in Milton Keynes.

How I work
When working with anxiety, I often help clients gently break the cycle of becoming fearful of anxious thoughts and physical sensations. When anxiety itself starts to feel threatening, it can unintentionally keep the cycle going. Learning how to respond differently to these thoughts and feelings can be an important step towards feeling calmer, safer and more in control.
I also believe it can be incredibly helpful to explore why anxiety may be showing up in the first place. Often, anxiety acts like an internal alarm system, signalling that something within us may need care, attention or understanding. This can relate to past experiences, low self esteem, self criticism, shame, unmet emotional needs or long held patterns of pressure and fear.
As we begin to understand the deeper roots of anxiety, we can gently work with the parts of you that may be feeling overwhelmed, unsupported or stuck in survival mode. Over time, this can help anxiety begin to feel less consuming and easier to manage.
A key part of my work is also helping clients understand what anxiety actually is and why the mind and body respond in the ways they do. For many people, this understanding alone can help reduce some of the fear, shame and frustration that often accompany anxiety.
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you do not have to hide how you are really feeling. Over the years, I have supported many women in feeling more grounded, more present in their everyday lives and less controlled by fear and overwhelm.

Where I work
Counselling sessions take place in the Crown Counselling room at my home in Eagle Farm South, Milton Keynes. The room is a cosy and welcoming garage conversion at the back of my garden, created to feel calm, comfortable and private.
When you arrive, you can park on the drive and ring the bell at the front of the house. I will come and meet you at the side gate and show you through to the counselling room.
The space is tucked away from the main house to help you feel safe, relaxed and able to talk openly without interruption or judgement.
I also conduct my online counselling sessions from this space, allowing me to offer the same calm, confidential and supportive environment whether we work together in person or online.
