Amy Fokkens Therapeutic Counsellor

Hello! I'm Amy, I'm an anxiety specialist counsellor and I'm so pleased you've landed on my website today.

Anxiety is an incredibly difficult emotion to navigate, you may be here reading this because you feel like it has taken over your life, your relationships and perhaps even the relationship you have with yourself.

Perhaps you have found yourself avoiding situations that feel overwhelming or always thinking of the worst-case scenario, maybe you are having panic attacks or obsessing over your health or decisions.

Whatever it is that you are struggling with I would love to help you, I myself have experienced severe anxiety in the past and I am passionate about supporting my clients overcome the fear of fear!

I can offer support with

Panic attacks – a physical symptom of anxiety

Generalised Anxiety – Feeling anxious about most things in your life

Avoidance – staying away from things that make you feel more anxious

Disassociation – Disconnecting from yourself and the world around you

Hyper-vigilance – always thinking worst case scenario

Social Anxiety – People pleasing, boundaries, confidence

Health Anxiety – Obsessing over your health or the health of others

Phobias – Fear around a specific topic which is affecting your daily life

Low self-esteem – due to the impact anxiety is having on your life

I have worked successfully with many people by helping them to find a sense of peace and freedom from constant fear and worry.

My approach is to offer a safe and accepting space where I can offer you support on how to manage your anxiety in the present whilst also providing the opportunity to explore WHY you are feeling the way you are.

If you are interested in counselling sessions with me I offer a free intro call where we can have an informal chat about how anxiety has been affecting you and how I may be able to help.

To find out more about how I work take a look at the FAQ page or feel free to read a little more about me on my about me page, I look forward to hearing from you!

“Amy has had a huge impact on me, when I started seeing her I had lost control of certain aspects of my life and what was normal had become a hurdle I couldn’t get over. I had previously had counselling before so I thought I knew what to expect but Amy was completely different. She supported me to put strategies in place to combat panic attacks, helped me be more compassionate and understanding of myself and allowed me to not be afraid of anxiety anymore. Over time simple things that I had lost the ability to do such as go on a train or take a plane journey were no longer an issue. It’s not an understatement to say Amy allowed me to live my life again and I know where she is if I ever need her. She is warm, compassionate and empathetic.”
